Olympic Park Wildflowers – Washington state

I finally found some old slides and had them converted to JPG. What a blast re-discovering some of my hiking trails in the early 80’s. It also helped having a friend in the Park service. Thank you, Sid! ALPINE PLANTS OF NORTH AMERICA – GRAHAM NICHOLLS is one of the books I would recommend buying if you love alpine plants. I have one for sale.

A few closeups of  the wildflowers to be found in the Olympic Mountains of WA. Some were converted from film to slides and now from slides to DVD. They also managed to survive through in the neglect of being lost in the shop for a few decades.

Then again, I had made other explorations and other hikes so this last one is not an OOPS. Arizona would be the other place I could have found much enjoyment in. We had just left Tonopah NV and the enjoyments that young men
in their college years were attracted to. Photo taken by my trusty Brownie camera.OOPS
With sadness and nostalgia I must also reflect that the relationship between the Park Service employees and visitors was entirely different in those days. I was fortunate to have had a friend by the name of Sid. I believe she ended up working for a famous zoo – which might have made her better trained for today’s tour-bus visitors. Edward Abby left this world just in time.
